Alysa Mae is an artist based in South-East Queensland, mostly known for her paintings on canvas, her practice also expands into large scale murals and digital artwork. Her paintings explore the separation between mind and reality. Featuring female figures, often gazing into the beyond, expressing and underlining sense of uncertainty and fragility. With the use of colour and expression she creates and moody undertone with a hidden narrative.
Alysa Mae was one of five local artists whom recently completed Public: AIR, a four-week artist residency and public art mentoring program at Kontraband Studios. "During the art residency I worked closely with one of the mentors which helped work through my process on a deeper level. This revealed a lot about my practice and why I paint what I do, this deeper understanding has helped me break through a creative block and has put me on the path to create work with clearer messages."
Public: AIR received financial assistance from the Regional Arts Development Fund. The Regional Arts Development Fund is a partnership between the Queensland Government and Toowoomba Regional Council to support local arts and culture in regional Queensland.
